Beam is a private, local-first recording and transcription app for iPhone.

Email support@trybeam.ai. Include your Beam version, iPhone model, iOS version, selected language, and what happened. Please do not send a sensitive recording unless support asks and you are comfortable sharing it.

Recording

Can Beam keep recording while my iPhone is locked?

Yes. Start recording before locking your iPhone, keep sufficient storage available, and do not force-quit Beam. Supported devices can use Lock Screen or Dynamic Island controls.

Why is the other side of a laptop call quiet?

Beam records sound reaching the iPhone microphone; it does not capture another device’s internal call audio. Keep the iPhone near the conversation and raise speaker volume without causing distortion.

Transcription and language models

Launch-version transcription runs on device using Apple language models. Results vary with language, microphone placement, noise, speaker volume, accents, and uncommon terms. Keep the audio as the primary record. Auto-detect routes among languages you have prepared; it does not download every model.

Imported audio

Choose Import on the home screen, select an audio file, and choose a language or Auto-detect. iOS may pause long background processing under resource constraints and resume it later.

Finding and exporting

Search titles, participants, important terms, People aliases, and matching transcript occurrences. Open a match to jump to its audio time. Use Export to share complete audio or a readable transcript. Always verify an exported file before treating it as a backup.

Deleting data

Delete a meeting from its detail page or use supported multi-select actions. Copies exported outside Beam and separately saved Contacts or Calendar information may remain at their destination.

Lifetime Pro

Apple processes purchases. If a completed purchase is not shown, open Settings → Your plan → Lifetime Pro and choose Restore Purchases. Refund eligibility is determined by Apple.
